Citi Research Initiates Partnership with the Oxford Martin School

LONDON--()--Citi (NYSE:C) has launched a research partnership with the Oxford Martin School, a research community that is part of the University of Oxford, with the aim of better analysing a variety of the most pressing global challenges of the 21st century.

Citi Research and the Oxford Martin School have published their first collaborative report in the form of a Citi Global Perspectives & Solutions (Citi GPS) paper titled “Future Opportunities, Futures Shocks: Key Trends Shaping the Global Economy and Society.

“The Oxford Martin School has a hugely impressive research framework, which balances analysis of risk and reward in addressing the key questions that concern our future”, said Andrew Pitt, Citi’s Global Head of Research. “These questions are of great significance for investors, corporates and governments alike, so we are partnering to enhance our research capability and to strengthen our analytical framework.”

The primary focus of the partnership will be to publish on a variety of topics through the Citi GPS thought leadership product, accompanied by relevant seminars and events. The Citi GPS product suite is designed to deliver insights and viewpoints on compelling issues and structural thematic trends in the global economy. The series was developed as a means to deliver the depth of strategic thought that exists across Citi to a wide audience, including institutional investors, corporates, public sector officials and individuals, providing clients with the basis of informed dialogue on key topics of global relevance.

“The Oxford Martin School not only works to understand the big questions facing society over the coming decades, but also to ensure that the results of this research reach far beyond academia,” said Professor Ian Goldin, Director of the School and author of the first joint Citi-Oxford Martin School/Citi GPS report. “In the first GPS, I bring together research from across the School to highlight the impact of globalization and identify the trends that will shape future opportunities and risks. This new partnership with Citi is an exciting opportunity to ensure that our cutting edge research on vital issues reaches the influential worldwide audience of Citi’s GPS series.”

The Oxford Martin School is a unique interdisciplinary community within the University of Oxford comprising more than 200 scholars working in over 30 research teams to address the most pressing global challenges of the 21st century. Research projects conducted within the School are selected on the basis of their global scale and impact. There are few communities working within a top tier global university that combine the calibre of academic scholarship with the relevance to global financial markets of the Oxford Martin School.

The initial collaborative report, authored by Goldin, who is also Professor of Globalization and Development at the University of Oxford, examines the drivers of globalization and the global megatrends – both societal and technological – that will shape the future, as well as the potential shocks and risks to the global system. The report includes contributions from a broad number of Citi Research analysts on the trends identified and discussed.
