National Government Services Partners with Cahaba to Win Multi-State Part A/B Medicare Administrative Contractor Jurisdiction J Contract

INDIANAPOLIS--()--The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded the Part A/B Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) Jurisdiction J (JJ) contract to prime contractor Cahaba Government Benefit Administrators®, LLC (Cahaba). NGS is one of the leading subcontractors on the Cahaba Team. The contract is valued at $75 million over five years.

As a result of the 2003 Medicare Prescription Drug Improvement and Modernization Act (MMA), CMS continues to establish MACs as multi-state, regional contractors responsible for administering both Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B claims. Formerly Jurisdiction 10, JJ now consists of Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee with approximately 2.5 million beneficiaries.

“National Government Services is proud to serve the millions of beneficiaries in JJ,” said Mike Kapp, president of National Government Services. “We have served as a trusted partner to CMS for more than 48 years, and will bring our deep health care domain knowledge along with our technology expertise to the table to ensure positive experiences for Medicare beneficiaries in JJ.”

National Government Services originally subcontracted to Cahaba conducting provider audit services for J10 in addition to developing and maintaining Cahaba’s provider portal, InSite. For JJ, National Government Services will provide support for the following areas:

  • Provider Audit & Reimbursement
  • Non-Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) and MSP Debt Collection
  • Mail & Distribution
  • Ongoing support of InSite, the provider portal
