BOSTON--()--Invaluable, the world’s largest online live auction marketplace, today announced that it has Buddy Holly’s 1958 Ariel Cyclone Motorcycle available for online bidding at auction by Guernsey’s. The motorcycle is viewed as the centerpiece of the Remembering Waylon auction, which features more than 2,000 items owned by legendary country musician Waylon Jennings. The live auction is taking place in two sessions on October 5, 2014, beginning at 1pm PST at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix. Bidders can view the full collection on Invaluable.com and bid online in real-time during the live auction.

The limited edition 1958 Ariel Cyclone motorcycle was given to Jennings in 1979 as a 42nd birthday gift by two surviving members of Buddy Holly’s band, the Crickets, twenty years after Holly’s untimely death. The motorcycle is well-preserved with just over 4,000 miles, and has not been ridden in over twenty years. The dark red British bike was one of only 200 made in the year 1958 and is estimated to realize up to $1,000,000 at auction.

“Buddy Holly was such an important icon in the music industry, and it’s a thrill to have his beloved Ariel Cyclone available for online bidding on the Invaluable platform,” said Rob Weisberg, Invaluable CEO. “Guernsey’s is known for their extraordinary collections, and this auction of music memorabilia from outlaw country artist Waylon Jennings is no exception. I know our bidders will be excited to have the opportunity to own the items being offered as part of this great sale.”

Other noteworthy items available through the Remembering Waylon auction include the original signed contract for the establishment of the Country Supergroup The Highwaymen (expected to realize $80,000 - $100,000), a handwritten letter to Jennings from John Lennon (estimated at $15,000 - $20,000), and Willie Nelson’s trademark braids, which he cut off in 1983 to cheer on Jennings’ newfound sobriety (expected to realize $50,000 - $60,000).

Also being offered as part of the sale are Hank Williams Sr.’s Custom-made Nudie Cowboy Boots (estimated at $40,000 - $60,000) and Muhammad Ali's Training Robe (expected to realize $20,000 - $30,000). Jennings and Ali were great friends, and Ali himself presented the robe to Jennings in New Orleans after fighting Leon Spinks in 1978.

Approaching its 40th anniversary, Guernsey’s has built a reputation as an auction house known for the presentation of the most extraordinary properties. Guernsey’s also has brought some of the most famous and intriguing personalities of the 20th Century to auction in events that captivated the world.
