Willis-Knighton Health System Selects InteliChart to Streamline Patient Engagement and Enhance Coordinated Care

Enterprise-wide patient portal will connect patients and providers across all care settings for North Louisiana’s largest integrated delivery network(IDN)

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--()--InteliChart, a leading provider of patient engagement and health information exchange (HIE) technology, announced today that Willis-Knighton Physician Network, the largest IDN in North Louisiana, has selected InteliChart’s Enterprise Patient Portal to deliver a single portal solution for its system of network clinics.

InteliChart’s, 2014 ONC-certified Enterprise Patient Portal will help Willis-Knighton to demonstrate Meaningful Use of electronic medical records, meet federal requirements and receive government funding. Patient portals have gained popularity as Stage 2 Meaningful Use requires healthcare providers to ensure more than 50 percent of patients are provided online access to their health information and that at least five percent of their patient population view, download or transmit their health information to a third party.

Single Patient Portal

“Our technology brings the convenience of a single portal solution to engage patients in their healthcare received in every setting in the health system,” said Gary Hamilton, CEO of InteliChart. “It also provides the infrastructure for physicians, other clinicians and staff to share clinical and administrative data and coordinate care seamlessly across a single platform.”

The patient portal eliminates the need to request records directly from providers and wait for them to arrive by mail or fax. Easy access via an Internet browser or a mobile app allows patients to take a more active role in their healthcare, leads to better outcomes and fewer errors and improved patient satisfaction. Patients may keep track of their own health and actively participate in the management of their healthcare.

“We know meaningful use is an incentive, but it wasn’t our biggest driver,” said Greg Gavin, Physician Network Administrator,. “We are interested in improving provider-patient communication, coordinating care across our system, and facilitating the healthcare goals for our patients. A vendor-neutral patient portal that provides a single source solution for our patients as well as a consistent brand across the entire Willis-Knighton System, were top priorities in selecting a solution to achieve these goals.”

With Meaningful Use State 2, healthcare is seeing increased demand for patient engagement solutions from practitioners and hospitals.

“A number of other factors also influence healthcare’s needs for products that engage their patients,” Hamilton said. “Quality care measures are increasingly being linked to reimbursements and physicians are also searching for ways to provide patients with more education and monitor ongoing wellness. A patient portal allows physicians to offer remote monitoring services and more effectively manage patients’ chronic conditions.”
