HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Alpheus Communications, a leading provider of Texas metro-regional fiber and networking solutions, today announced the acquisition of StratITsphere’s retail colocation business unit. The companies also formed a strategic partnership that includes a long-term lease of data center space at 1510 Primewest Parkway, Katy, Texas, which is part of Houston’s Energy Corridor.
This latest acquisition expands Alpheus’ data center capacity in the Houston market, adding more than 12,000 square feet of immediately available data center space. StratITsphere will continue to operate its 93,000-square-foot data center with a focus on wholesale customers. Alpheus’ new SSAE-16 compliant data center space is conveniently located within 30 miles of downtown Houston, close to the interstate. From a disaster recovery perspective, the data center is strategically positioned outside Houston’s 500-year floodplain, is not in any commercial flight paths, and is beyond a 20-mile radius of any chemical or flammable plants.
