LONG BEACH, Calif.--()--Epson, a leading supplier of value-added Point of Sale (POS) solutions, and Digital Dining, a leader in restaurant POS systems, have teamed up to provide a unique technology solution at one of the world’s most dynamic new food and beverage marketplace concepts, Eataly. Eataly is unlike most dining venues in that it houses multiple types and sizes of dining and food-centric customer experiences, such as restaurants, coffee bars, produce markets, bakeries, wine shops, butchers, cooking schools, and rooftop beer gardens, along with one-of-a-kind private and group dining options. Eataly’s complicated configuration of housing multiple profit centers under one mega-roof required a sophisticated and flexible software solution, with all systems linking to a central database, along with the capacity to handle high-volume and varying-sized transactions with ease. Digital Dining’s feature-rich POS system, along with Epson’s industry-proven wired and wireless receipt printing solutions, allowed Eataly to streamline processes such as multi-store control, gift cards, loyalty – all while handling up to 5,000 transactions daily. The solution has been installed in both Eataly US locations, which include New York City and Chicago.

“We were excited to deliver a point of sale infrastructure to meet Eataly’s very unique requirements,” commented Andre Nataf, senior business development manager at Digital Dining. “We made it work with the scalability, multi-revenue center functionality and the robust central reporting of our software, along with the industry-benchmark workhorse printers from Epson. At the end of the day, customers are served at multiple points of service, with varying degrees of complexity – seamlessly.”

The New York City rollout included Digital Dining software as well as 26 Epson TM-T88V receipt printers, 22 Epson TM-U220 kitchen printers, and Epson’s MobilinkTM on-the-go receipt printer. For the Chicago location, the rollout included Digital Dining software as well as 34 Epson TM-T88V receipt printers and 19 Epson TM-U220 kitchen printers.

Eataly’s New York City location opened in 2010 and offers 22 dining options in its 50,000 square-foot space, while the Chicago location opened in 2013 and offers 23 dining options in its 63,000 square-foot space, and each location employs more than 600 people. According to company partners, the New York Eataly pulled in $70 million its first year and is now one of the most-visited tourist sites in New York City, besides being a favorite go-to spot for locals. The company is expected to grow its US presence, with one opening every year for the next six years in cities like LA, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., and there is talk of one more NYC location coming soon.
