MILWAUKEE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Effective July 1, CommunityConnect HealthPlan, a managed care organization serving BadgerCare Plus members, was officially renamed Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The change is designed to help avoid potential confusion for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield members, health care providers and regulators, and to better describe the company’s product offerings across a variety of health insurance programs.
“Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and CommunityConnect HealthPlan have always been a part of the same company,” said Larry Schreiber, president, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Wisconsin. “Having all of our products under a common name will make it easier for individuals and families to transition from one health plan to another based upon their needs and to make more informed decisions about their health benefits.”
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is working to improve health and strengthen communities throughout Wisconsin. The company offers a comprehensive Health insurance product portfolio, including Individual and Group insurance products, as well as Medicare, Medicaid and Specialty insurance solutions, such as Dental, Vision, Disability and Life insurance. - Only the trade name is changing. CommunityConnect HealthPlan® (CommunityConnect) was the trade name used by Compcare Health Services Insurance Corporation for its insurance policies offered through the BadgerCare Plus program. As of July 1, 2014 those products are now using the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield trade name. It is only the DBA/trade name that is changing. The underlying company insuring the benefits is – and will remain – Compcare.
- There’s no change in benefits. The name change to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield will not impact CommunityConnect members’ ability to receive care before, during or after the transition, or to see their established primary care provider or clinic.
- Help is available. A comprehensive communications plan – including member letters and an advertising campaign – communicated the name change in advance of its July 1 effective date, and resources are available to help address any remaining questions. Individuals with questions about their benefits should contact the member services number on the back of their member identification card or by visiting www.anthem.com/wimedicaid. Health care provider offices will continue to receive support through their assigned Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Provider Relations representative who can assist with the administrative processes and billing changes associated with the renaming.
