CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--(AmWINS) announced today that it has acquired Cabrillo Pacific Insurance Services (Cabrillo), a non-standard auto insurance Managing General Agent, and Tidewater Pacific Adjusters (Tidewater), the administrator that manages claims and appraisal functions for Cabrillo and other clients. The acquisition of Cabrillo and Tidewater, both of which are based in San Diego, expands AmWINS’ existing non-standard auto business into California - one of the largest markets for non-standard auto insurance.
Founded in 2001, Cabrillo has established itself in the California market by specializing in non-standard auto insurance and other personal lines coverages. Cabrillo provides complete policy and claims administration to its insurance company partners, reinsurers, MGAs and independent agents.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to join the AmWINS family and the opportunity to expand our business and product offerings as a result of the resources that are now available to us through this partnership,” said Bob Jester, CEO of Cabrillo and Tidewater. “AmWINS has established itself as one of the leaders of our industry, and we’re confident that our employees and customers will benefit from this combination.”
Cabrillo and Tidewater will become part of AmWINS’ Underwriting Division, continuing both companies’ commitment to quality service and underwriting.
“The addition of Cabrillo and Tidewater are an important step in the execution of our strategic plan for AmWINS Specialty Auto, helping us expand into California, a state which we have targeted for expansion,” said M. Steven DeCarlo, CEO of AmWINS. “We are confident that, together, we can capture a number of opportunities for growth that neither of us could have accomplished individually.”
