NASHVILLE, Tenn.--()--Aegis Health Group has selected Phillip Suiter as chief executive officer, effective immediately. Aegis is the nation’s most experienced provider of business development strategies for hospitals.

“Phil is an accomplished leader whose vision and expertise are perfectly suited to guide Aegis as we support hospitals’ efforts to improve population health and build financial strength,” said Mike Barton, chairman of the Aegis board of directors. “He is uniquely and highly qualified having served as a top executive for several noteworthy healthcare and technology companies. We are delighted to have someone with his breadth of experience assume this important role.”

Suiter comes to Aegis from Artemis Health Group where he served as president and chief executive and was a member of the board of directors. There, over a three-year period, he managed the company’s rebranding, valuation process and profitability, positioning it as a leading provider of specialty-specific technology solutions for OB-GYN practices. Previously he served as president and CEO of Transaction Tracking Technologies, a privately held transaction processor that handles more than $1.5 billion in financial transactions annually. His more than 30 years of management experience also includes leadership roles at Vanderbilt University, OnLife, Stinger Medical, Notify MD Inc. and Inforum (Thomson Reuters).

“As an industry pioneer, Aegis Health Group led the way in population health management long before the phrase gained popularity,” said Suiter. “I am excited about the opportunity to work closely with Aegis’ dedicated team of professionals in delivering measurable revenue-growth solutions to hospitals and health systems across the country.”

Suiter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and his master’s program has a focus on business management from Murray State University. He is the immediate past chairman of the board for the Park Center, a Nashville-based nonprofit organization serving the mental health needs of adults in Middle, TN.

Assuring a smooth transition will be Lori Copeland, who is co-founder, chief financial officer and for the past seven months has been serving as acting CEO of Aegis. “This is an exciting time for Aegis Health Group as we assist hospitals in fostering stronger relationships with consumers, physicians and employers,” said Copeland. “Phil’s unique blend of healthcare, technology and management experience will be a tremendous asset to our team and the hospitals we serve.”
