STEM Saves Lives Conference: Bayer’s National Science Literacy Advocate to Keynote at PhRMA, U.S. News & World Report STEM Conference

PITTSBURGH--()--Dr. Mae C. Jemison, longtime national spokesperson for Bayer Corporation’s award-winning Making Science Make Sense® program, will be the featured speaker at “STEM Saves Lives,” hosted by U.S. News & World Report in partnership with the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).

The conference will be held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. The event will feature a series of panels focusing on how the biopharmaceutical industry is investing in STEM education and how these best practice case studies can serve as models for other STEM-related industries.

Dr. Jemison, chemical engineer, physician, educator and former U.S. astronaut, will highlight key components of Making Science Make Sense®, Bayer’s best practice STEM education initiative. Additionally, Dr. Jemison will offer recommendations for how other biopharmaceutical companies can get involved in supporting programs that have a track record of helping students succeed in STEM subjects. She will also address her personal STEM journey and the importance of bringing more women, African-Americans, Hispanics and American Indians into the nation’s STEM fields.
