IDC Predictions 2014: The Battle for Dominance on the 3rd Platform Heats Up

Series of complimentary Web conferences will highlight critical IT and business trends in the year ahead

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--()--International Data Corporation (IDC) today announced a series of complimentary Web conferences to present IDC's Top 10 Predictions for 2014. Beginning December 3, 2013 and continuing through February 2014, thought leaders from IDC and IDC's Insights business units will join forces to highlight the most dynamic issues and trends across industries and technologies. The goal of the Predictions Web conferences is to arm IT decision makers across industries with unparalleled insight into the industry drivers, challenges, and solutions that will help them capitalize on new opportunities and make the most informed business decisions in the year ahead.

The series will kick off with IDC's annual Worldwide ICT Industry Predictions, featuring Frank Gens, Senior Vice President & Chief Analyst at IDC. For the past several years, IDC has predicted and chronicled the IT industry's massive and disruptive shift to the 3rd Platform for innovation and growth, built on the four technology "pillars" of cloud, mobile, big data and analytics, and social technologies. The IT industry's major players are battling ever more intensely for leadership – or in some cases, just for survival – in this new IT marketplace. IDC's worldwide team of analysts will highlight the trends and events that will define these leadership battles in the coming year and shape the future of the global IT market for the next two decades. This Web conference – "Battles for Dominance – and Survival – on the 3rd Platform" – will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd at 12:00 pm U.S. Eastern time. For additional information please visit http://www.idc.com/Predictions2014.

The IDC Insights Web conference series will continue on Wednesday, December 4th at 11:00 am U.S. Eastern time with an IDC CIO Agenda Web conference where IDC analysts will explore high-level issues affecting CIOs and IT executives. Later that day, IDC will host a cross-industry discussion led by Meredith Whalen, Senior Vice President, IDC Insights and Vertical Markets Research. The presentation will feature a panel of research vice presidents from the six industries that comprise IDC Insights (energy, financial, government, health, manufacturing and retail). The IDC Insights Web conferences will continue into January, focusing on specific technology and industry-related issues covering worldwide and regional markets.
