TAINAN, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Erix Yu, Group Vice President with Applied Materials (AMAT) and Country President of Applied Materials in Taiwan, gave a speech on “Inflections in Industry and Technology” to students from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, October 3.
Yu said, “When we retrospect the development of the industry during the past twenty years, we can see that the company came across several critical points in terms of marketing and managerial strategies and business models. Students who are equipped with not only the profession but communication skills, work ethics, and project management capabilities may exceed in the high-tech challenges of the future.”
In the class, Yu introduced the latest knowledge and concepts related to the semiconductor industry and noted, “Innovation is critical for any hi-tech company’s success, and an innovative future workforce is key to our future success.”

Dr. Ding also said, “During this semester Applied Materials in Taiwan cooperated with our department to design a series of 14 seminars with a view to give a thorough introduction of the semiconductor and display industries to the students who aspire to start their career in the industry.”
The lectures will be delivered by Applied Materials senior technical experts who have over 10 years of experience in the industry.
Following Yu’s lecture, the topics of the seminars will include Development and Influences of Industry and Technology, Introduction to the Semiconductor Industry, Front-End Products for Semiconductor, Metal Deposition Products for Semiconductor, Etch Products for Semiconductor, Planarization and Patterning: Chemical Mechanical Polishing and Lithography, Process Diagnostics & Control, Dielectric Systems and Modules Products for Semiconductor, Implant Products for Semiconductor, Semitool Products for Semiconductor, Introduction to Display, Chemical Vapor Deposition for Display, and Physical Vapor Deposition for Display.
