NEW YORK--()--in4mation insights today announced that its co-founder and partner, Steven Cohen, was inducted into the Market Research Council (MRC) Hall of Fame at their annual meeting in New York City.

The MRC, chartered in 1927, is the oldest and one of the most prestigious Market Research organizations in the world. Membership is limited by invitation only to senior research professionals.

The MRC's Hall of Fame recognizes those who have made distinguished and outstanding accomplishments in the Market Research industry. Winners prior to 2000 include George Gallup, Paul Lazarsfeld, Arthur C. Nielsen, Jr., Elmo Roper, W. Edwards Deming, Daniel Yankelovich, Burns W. Roper, David Ogilvy, and Gale D. Metzger.

Since 2000, some of the notable winners are David Poltrack, Gerald Lukeman, John Dimling, Kevin Clancy, Michael Naples, Tod Johnson, and Vince Barabba.

Cohen’s career is marked by a series of firsts:

  • First practitioner to do choice-based conjoint analysis.
  • First practitioner to develop multiway latent class models.
  • First practitioner to develop and do menu-based conjoint analysis.
  • First to describe and demonstrate the value and use of Maximum Difference Scaling (MaxDiff) as a way to measure preferences.

In 2012, Steve won the Next Generation Market Research Disruptive Innovator Award which recognizes companies and individuals that have demonstrated outstanding leadership as change agents and made significant contributions to harnessing disruptive innovation—technological, methodological or otherwise—to drive research industry progress.

In 2011, he was awarded the Charles Coolidge Parlin Award from the American Marketing Association, which recognizes Cohen’s substantial contributions and unwavering dedication to the ongoing advancement of marketing research practice. Established as a memorial to Charles Coolidge Parlin, who is recognized as a founder of marketing research and acknowledged for his early benchmarking studies of consumer issues, the Parlin Award is today a preeminent national honor for both academics and research practitioners.
