U.S. Money Reserve, one of the nation’s largest distributors of U.S. government-issued gold, silver and platinum products, recently launched a promotion inspired by and dating back to America’s Old West era.
Among U.S. Money Reserve’s “Buffalo Gold” products are U.S. Buffalo Proof Gold Coins, minted at the West Point Mint. The coins’ design originated from the historical Buffalo nickel, which was struck by the U.S. Mint from 1913 to 1938 as part of an effort to beautify the country’s coinage. The obverse (front) design features a Native American chief’s face; an American Bison is found on the reverse (back) side. “Buffalo Gold” features coins from 2006-2012, including a limited number of date run sets with coins minted in sequential years. The $50 (1 oz) coin was the only 24-karat Buffalo Proof Gold denomination minted in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012; however, $5, $10, $25 and $50 denominations were minted in 2008. U.S. Money Reserve’s “Buffalo Gold” date run set consists of ten coins: $50 denominations from 2006, 2007 and each of the years from 2009-2012; and the four denominations minted in 2008.
In addition to the American frontier-inspired products, U.S. Money Reserve’s promotion includes paper notes dating back to the Old West era in American history. The $10 Bison Legal Tender Note and $5 Native American Chief Silver Certificate are antique paper notes used during this time period, dated 1901 and 1899 respectively. These two products are distinctive pieces of paper currency; the 1899 $5 Silver Certificate is the only U.S. legal tender paper note to ever feature a Native American, and the standout 1901 $10 Bison Note is three times as large as a standard dollar bill.
