RK Motors Charlotte to Sponsor 2013 Hot Rod Power Tour Grand Finale Cruise Night

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--()--For auto enthusiasts across the country, the first week in June means only one thing – the return of the Hot Rod Power Tour. What began 19 years ago as a humble trip from Southern California to Detroit has now amassed over 5,400 vehicles and 85,000 spectators.

This year, the legendary trek is set to cross seven cities in seven days, starting in Arlington, TX and concluding at the zMAX Dragway in Concord, NC on Friday June, 7th. RK Motors Charlotte, the nation’s leading retailer of classic, custom, and high-performance cars is proud to sponsor the Grand Finale Cruise Night.

“We pride ourselves on building and selling cars that are ready for the road. No event in the country celebrates that idea quite like the Hot Rod Power Tour,” stated Joseph M. Carroll, president and CEO of RK Motors Charlotte. “We’re looking forward to welcoming participants to the zMAX Dragway and getting a chance to connect with the kind of enthusiasts that drive our industry.”

Gates will open at noon as the first Power Tour participants arrive from their Chattanooga, TN starting point. From there, the event will grow into a full-fledged car show with over 3,500 cars filling out the zMAX pit area. RK Motors Charlotte will be featured in the Midway where they will display some of their incredible inventory. Sister company, the RKM Performance Center, will also be on hand to answer questions and offer automotive advice.

Events will focus around the main stage where patrons can expect a live performance by NC-based Americana act, The New Familiars, presented by RK Motors Charlotte, as well as an appearance by “Miss Hot Rod” Courtney Hansen, and plenty of opportunities to take home awesome prizes. Later in the evening, the drag strip will go up in smoke as participants attempt to break the Guinness world record for the largest group burnout.

“The Power Tour is, simply put, the world’s largest traveling car show party,” said Jeff Dahlin, Publisher of Hot Rod Magazine. “This year, with our grand finale taking place in Charlotte, we couldn’t be more excited to partner with the hometown heroes at RK Motors. Just as there’s only one HOT ROD Magazine, RK Motors stands alone when it comes to classic and performance car sales, and they take on some wicked builds there too—our staff as well as the registered spectators are looking forward to seeing the vehicles they come to display. No bones about it—this is going to be a monster of a Power Tour date.”

The Hot Rod Power Tour Grand Finale Cruise Night is open to public and free for spectators. Festivities begin at noon and will continue until 8pm. For more information, follow the Hot Rod Power Tour at http://www.hotrod.com.
