CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--()--Today, Nara Logics Inc., a company that solves the problem of web search by crafting a more personalized and liberating Web, announced its new Nara mobile app that minimizes time searching and helps people discover new dining experiences that are tailored to their tastes. With Nara Mobile, available for free in the App Store and Google Play, foodies and urbanites can find highly personalized restaurant recommendations in 25 U.S. and Canadian cities from New York City to San Francisco to Toronto. Through active use of the platform, Nara’s app learns a person’s restaurant preferences to create their unique Digital DNATM and suggests other restaurants tailored to their tastes.

“You might know a few restaurants you love in your home city but want to discover more that are in line with your tastes and interests,” said Thomas Copeman, chief executive officer and founder of Nara. “Or perhaps you are traveling in a new city and don’t have the time to comb through thousands of online reviews and search pages to find just the right spot for dinner. That’s where Nara comes in.”

Getting Started with Nara is Easy and Fun

Once a free account is created on Nara.me or via the iOS or Android app, there are a few easy steps to start receiving and browsing personalized recommendations.

  • From a set of provided images, the person answers three questions by choosing the best picture to represent him or her.
  • The person chooses two favored restaurants in any Nara city.
  • Finally, Nara leverages its patented brain-like algorithm to present only the most relevant, personal choices that match the user’s responses to its fast and easy questions.
  • Users are prompted to “thumb up” and “thumb down” the personalized recommendations delivered by Nara so the platform can get smarter with use.

Nara Mobile 1.0 – Take Your Finds with You

The ultimate travel app for tech-savvy “foodies” and local explorers, Nara has made its Web platform available for active people who want anywhere, anytime access to their finds. Whether a user is in New York City, New Orleans or San Francisco, his or her Digital DNATM travels along to provide great recommendations in every Nara city across North America.

Nara makes web search less about blind digital exploration and more about finding physical venues that are more personalized and automatically inferred for you,” said Dr. Nathan Wilson, chief technology officer of Nara. "The platform marks a new step in artificial intelligence where computers search out things that are specific to your tastes and bring them back to you. In learning how to help you, Nara tries to reach conclusions the way our own brains do, so it comes to understand your personal preferences the more you use it."

Building a Digital Lifestyle Brand

Nara’s technology is integrated with online restaurant reservations provider OpenTable to simplify the dining out experience.

Booking a restaurant is simple. Once Nara has provided personalized recommendations based off the person’s existing interests and desires, a reservation can be booked through OpenTable and locations can be shared with friends and family via email.

“With the goal of creating a better Internet to enhance people’s experience in the real world, we knew that bringing Nara to mobile was a critical step,” said Copeman. “We’re anxious to continue expanding the Nara platform beyond restaurants, partner with other likeminded brands and further bridge the digital and physical worlds for our users. We feel as though the scale and potential for Nara is limitless.”
