Cellufun Now Tylted

New Name, New Game for Mobile Web Games Community

NEW YORK--()--Cellufun, one of the mobile Web’s largest communities for social and casual games since 2005, has changed its name to “Tylted” reflecting the fresh, edgy new approach the company is taking with its newest games, its overall user experience and its brand strategy going forward. The new name “Tylted” was generated from a contest where fans were asked to submit and vote on a new name. Over 30,000 participated and the winning entrant received $10,000 as stipulated by contest rules.

“We all love ‘Tylted’ – it’s a great name to build a brand upon and the fact that it was created by someone in our user community perfectly illustrates where we sit at the convergence of social networking, casual games and the mobile web,” said CEO Lon Otremba. “Social play is a critical part of our infrastructure and the enthusiasm around the name change demonstrates the importance of casual games as a place where millions gather and connect over the mobile web. We remain committed to publishing the most popular social games on the HTML-5 platform and creating an unrivaled games experience with all the mobile web has to offer.”

Going forward, the Company will expand is virtual goods business, offer more social options and focus on customer acquisition. It will tap non-hardcore casual gamers who play occasionally but represent a mass audience for social networking features like anonymous personal avatars, in-game chat, and the ability to share virtual currency.

Indicative of the rebrand is the new title CuBug, a Tetris-style tile matching game that engages players for hours with bots that capture bugs then hatch into virtual features like wall papers that can be gifted to other players in rainbow colors. CuBug will monetize easily because of its strong social media and brand integration components within and around the game. Advertisers can engage with a highly-targeted audience of players chatting, comparing scores, exchanging points, customizing virtual goods, and celebrating special occasions.
