MIRAMAR, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Arise Virtual Solutions Inc., one of the world’s leading providers of virtual business solutions, announced its commitment to First Lady Michelle Obama’s Joining Forces initiative and its plans to partner with a total of 10,000 veterans and military family owned and operated independent businesses within the Arise Partner Network over the next several years. Designed to create portable home-based work opportunities for military spouses and veterans, Joining Forces will create work opportunities for military families and provide the flexibility and portability often required by the relocation demands of military life.
"Military spouses often are the most talented and most resilient and most employable people around," said First Lady Michelle Obama during the announcement. “Military spouses are blazing the trail for portable and flexible careers. This ambitious new effort is more than just about delivering work-at-home opportunities to military spouses and veterans in the coming years…this effort will help deliver opportunities that are located near bases, and that can move with military spouses as they relocate from base to base across the country.”
First Lady Michelle Obama spoke today about virtual work opportunities for military families with Dawn Schaeffer, a Client Support Professional. Dawn is married to a Staff Sergeant and Senior Munitions Inspector, currently stationed in Missouri at Whiteman Air Force Base, who has served in Iraq, Korea, and Guam. After becoming pregnant and moving to a new town with limited, work opportunities, Dawn began exploring work-from-home options.
Dawn Schaeffer, said, “It’s challenging to find rewarding work, let alone an opportunity that lets me spend more time with my family and that can move when we do. I chose to partner with Arise because I get to set my own schedule, stay at home, provide customer service to some of the biggest companies in the world, and not have to worry about making ends meet if we get transferred or move.”
Military families are ten times more likely to move across state lines than civilian families. The portability of home-based work is valuable to military families because the work can easily move with them as they relocate from base to base across the country. Working from home also provides flexible hours, enabling spouses who care for children, or elderly parents, to schedule their work around other obligations and activities. Working from home also provides home-bound veterans with disabilities new opportunities to have fulfilling work.
John Meyer, CEO and Co-Chairman of Arise and as a former flight commander and captain in the U.S. Air Force, commented, “I am particularly proud to offer home-based work opportunities to thousands of military spouses and veterans. Arise recognizes the immeasurable value that springs from the tremendous discipline and highly trained nature of military veterans and military spouses, as well as their passion for meaningful work opportunities that offer flexibility.”
This special occasion marks the launch of several Arise initiatives geared towards tapping into this valuable workforce and creating awareness among veterans and military spouses on the benefits of partnering with Arise. The next step in the Arise initiative to bring opportunities to our veterans and military spouses will be to attend four national, military, virtual fairs. The first fair, hosted by Milicruit, is on May 7th and is geared specifically towards Military Spouses and their families.
