MURRAY HILL, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Advent, Inc., a leader in the development and delivery of mission-critical transportation systems, and eModal, a leading provider of online logistics solutions and products, today announced the merger of the two companies. The combined organization, Advent Intermodal Solutions (AIS), will offer customers its powerful suite of existing intermodal logistics software, as well as the flexibility and experience to provide custom, purpose-built solutions.
“It is not often that a good idea turns into a great idea, and a great idea actually comes to fruition,” said Carl D’Emilio, president of Advent Intermodal Solutions. “Almost a year ago the idea of joining two long-time competitors – Advent and eModal – into a single company was born. I am excited that this simple idea has now successfully culminated. This partnership brings together many years of experience, dozens of successful projects, and most importantly a comprehensive suite of intermodal community products that is unparalleled in the industry. My personal goal is to continue to offer this powerful suite of products, while maintaining the flexibility and service that is the hallmark of the Advent brand.”
Both companies bring their own unique strengths. Advent has built a reputation providing customized port community products, focusing on individual implementations built around customers’ unique needs, and eModal has grown into the largest, most stable online portal for select port community services to the intermodal logistics industry. By offering a standardized online service, eModal has been able to provide a consistent hosted-product solution with a low initial entry cost. Leveraging the best products and services of each company, Advent Intermodal Solutions will offer the industry a single, integrated suite of products known as the eModal Intermodal Community Suite (eModal ICS).
The eModal ICS will incorporate the strengths of both companies and will be available as both an online Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) subscription and as a customized solution tailored and branded specifically to the customer. Starting with the merging of eModal.com and Chassis.com into a single portal, AIS’s goal is to provide the intermodal community with a single software suite with a comprehensive set of tools. By combining features such as a truck and driver registry, container availability, appointments, DVIR and M&R and chassis rental billing into one site, the new eModal ICS can provide an equipment provider, motor carrier or cargo owner with a unique tool unmatched in the industry.
Initial response regarding the merger from current customers of both Advent and eModal has been very enthusiastic. “We see the merger of Advent and eModal as a positive development for the industry,” said Joseph Lynch, assistant vice president of strategic development at TRAC Intermodal. “On their own, each company brought great value and essential solutions to the intermodal logistics market. We anticipate that their combined strength will result in enhanced service and even more innovative offerings, particularly in the area of chassis management and control, which is obviously crucial to an intermodal chassis pool manager and equipment provider like TRAC Intermodal.”
“Over the years, PierPASS has successfully worked with both Advent and eModal to help deliver our traffic mitigation and other program services to the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach,” stated Bruce Wargo, president and CEO of PierPASS. “We are excited about the merger of these two technology firms and expect this marriage will provide real benefits to the port and logistics communities that it serves.”
AIS has a goal to complete the merger process by the end of 2012. In the meantime, customers will begin to see some immediate benefits as the Chassis.com and eModal.com websites begin to share data and move toward a single, integrated chassis management solution.
