Ingersoll Rand Serves as Host for Department of Energy (DOE) Event “Save Energy Now LEADER Showcase”

Save Energy Now LEADER Showcase

DAVIDSON, N.C.--()--Ingersoll-Rand plc (NYSE:IR), a global leader in providing safe, comfortable and efficient environments, today welcomes the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and peers from nearly 100 companies for the Save Energy Now LEADER showcase.

The federal energy agency and companies have gathered for a day of panel discussions, workshops and networking on “Leveraging Internal Resources to Maximize Energy Efficiency.” Participating companies come from a wide range of industries and include ABB, Alcoa, DuPont, Duke Energy, Milliken & Company, Nissan, and Toyota.

Introduced in 2009, the Save Energy Now LEADER Program provides technical assistance and resources to companies that pledge significant improvements in industrial energy efficiency. The commitment includes developing an energy management plan, designating an energy manager and reporting energy use annually.

Like Ingersoll Rand, these leading companies have made energy efficiency a cornerstone of their corporate sustainability initiatives and have voluntarily pledged to reduce their energy usage by 25 percent or more over 8 years,” said Todd Wyman, senior vice president, global operations and integrated supply chain, Ingersoll Rand. “We’re honored to serve as host of this event and look forward to hearing best practices from other leading companies, sharing ways that Ingersoll Rand has helped its customers reduce their energy consumption, and highlighting how we have leveraged energy efficiency strategies internally.”

The participants will have the opportunity to tour the Ingersoll Rand Mocksville, N.C. manufacturing facility, which recently was recognized as a Duke Energy “Power Partner of the Year” for its significant energy reduction program. In addition, the program’s agenda includes presentations and discussions on the following topics:

  • DOE industrial technologies program update
  • Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) Industrial Coalition program
  • Unlocking the benefits of energy efficiency: an executive dilemma - Overview of recent Economist Intelligence Unit research
  • Industrial energy efficiency potential
  • Energy efficiency in practice: DuPont, Toyota, Ingersoll Rand
  • Path to premier performance

DOE LEADER Showcases are invite-only events designed to facilitate the sharing of energy management best practices. Attendees consistently cite the benefits of learning how their peer companies overcome challenges to energy efficient manufacturing.

Showcases help industrial manufacturers and their partners, including academia, utilities, and state energy office representatives, raise awareness of the latest energy management planning, processes and technological advances.

Content and presentations from the event will be available following the event to download via www.cees.ingersollrand.com
