MIAMI--()--The Americas Business Council Foundation announced today that Guillermo Romo, Co-chairman of the ABC* Foundation and President of Grupo Mega, has been honored as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, who each year recognizes distinguished leaders under the age of 40. This prestigious and influential recognition, as outlined by the organization, is bestowed upon a selected group of “young leaders from around the world for their professional accomplishments, commitment to society and potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world.” Romo was selected among thousands of young candidates from more than 65 countries, along 190 other world leaders, based on "a rigorous selection criteria that creates a diverse and truly representative body."

As a successful, young entrepreneur, Romo is dedicated to promoting transparent and honest business practices. His leadership, strategic thinking and social commitment, as recognized by the WEF nomination, has been fundamental in positioning Grupo Mega as one of Mexico’s leading financial businesses, focused in fostering enterprise creation and growth as a main engine for the country’s economic and social development. Beyond Grupo Mega, Romo has also been the driving force of the ABC*Fellows program created by the ABC* Foundation, in co-sponsorship with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), focused on bridging the generation gap between current and future business leaders in the Americas with the objective to foster open dialogue in the common pursuit to overcome the various issues faced throughout the hemisphere.

"I am proud that Guillermo has been honored for his leadership skills, professional accomplishments and commitment to service," said Emilio Azcarraga, Chairman and President of Grupo Televisa and founder of the Americas Business Council Foundation. "Like the World Economic Forum, at the Americas Business Council we know that the region's challenges require global collaboration and innovative ways of thinking. Guillermo not only represents the ideals of the Young Global Leaders but he embodies those of a new generation that wants to drive sustainable change in the region. I am certain that his nomination by the WEF will further enrich his work with the ABC* and further enhance the experience of those leaders he currently mentors through the organization."
