Iron Mountain Achieves PCI Data Security Standard Compliance for Third Consecutive Year

Iron Mountain Attains Compliance to Stricter PCI Standards for Secure Network, Access Control and Information Security Policy

BOSTON--()--Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM), the information management company, has once again met the stringent standards of the payment card industry for protecting the identity of credit and debit cardholders. Iron Mountain’s data protection solutions including LiveVault® online server backup and Connected® Backup for PC and Mac fulfill these security requirements.

The PCI DSS, endorsed by the body of major credit card companies, applies to merchants, processors, acquirers, issuers, and service providers that store, process or transmit customer payment card data, and defines a minimum set of information security controls for them. Many of Iron Mountain’s customers must maintain PCI compliance to perform transactions with credit card entities and must therefore use PCI compliant service providers.

“Security is the foundation of our business, and this commitment includes ensuring our processes meet the standards set forth by the PCI Security Standards Council, a leading organization that we are proud to be a member of,” said Joe DeSalvo, senior vice president and chief security officer, Iron Mountain. “Vigilant security practices are essential to responsibly managing information, and compliance with the PCI DSS is critical for protecting credit card users.”

In addition to achieving PCI compliance, Iron Mountain’s data protection solutions, Connected backup and LiveVault, offer data security features to safeguard information during transmission, storage and recovery. Iron Mountain’s data protection services securely migrate customer information to the cloud and manage it long term. All data remains encrypted at Iron Mountain’s highly secure underground data centers.

Iron Mountain is a participating organization of the PCI Security Standards Council, helping to shape the development of PCI standards and ultimately improve the security of payment card data. Iron Mountain brings to the Council its expertise and experience in protecting credit card data for thousands of customers across a variety of industries.

This is the third year in a row that Iron Mountain has achieved PCI (Payment Card Industry) Data Security Standard (DSS) compliance for its data protection, records management and shredding solutions.
