PatientKeeper Receives ONC-ATCB Certification for CPOE, Privacy and Security Criteria

WALTHAM, Mass.--()--PatientKeeper®, Inc., the leader in physician health information systems, today announced that PatientKeeper 7.0 software is 2011/2012 compliant and was certified as an EHR Module on January 12, 2011 by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®)*, an ONC-ATCB, in accordance with the applicable hospital certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Among the 14 criteria for which PatientKeeper is ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 compliant are: CPOE; drug-drug and drug-allergy interaction checking; drug formulary; problem list management; and various privacy and security objectives.

The certification means that the PatientKeeper 7.0 CPOE “module” (PatientKeeper CPOE™) has met the requirements for hospital use to support the achievement of meaningful use for that objective. Hospitals with fully certified EHR technology have met the first step in qualifying for healthcare IT incentive payments under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

PatientKeeper CEO Paul Brient said the company is proud to have attained this milestone, and will pursue certification of additional ONC criteria this year. “These certifications are an important step in PatientKeeper’s strategic initiative to become the ubiquitous physician HIS at community hospitals nationwide,” Brient said. “We give hospitals the ability to satisfy some Meaningful Use requirements while delighting their physicians without having to replace their existing hospital information infrastructure.”

R.D. Williams, CEO of Ashe Memorial Hospital in North Carolina, which currently is implementing PatientKeeper CPOE and other clinical applications, also recognized PatientKeeper’s ONC-ATCB certification. “We are excited to be among the first hospitals deploying PatientKeeper’s innovative CPOE solution and expect to achieve ‘Meaningful Use’ in the first year,” Williams said. “PatientKeeper will enable physicians to easily adopt CPOE and save time because the software is designed to support the way physicians already practice.”

PatientKeeper version 7.0’s certification number is CC-1112-285720. The software meets the following certification criteria:

  • 170.302 (o-v) Security
