HOUSTON--()--Hancock Whitney and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) have awarded $28,000 in Partnership Grant Program (PGP) funds to three community-based organizations (CBOs) located in the Houston, Texas, metro area.

For 2021, FHLB Dallas awarded $400,000 in PGP grants, and its members provided an additional $200,250 for an impact of more than $600,000 in its five-state District of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Texas.

PGP grants help qualified nonprofit organizations fund a variety of operational and administrative activities that are critical to serving their communities.

“Hancock Whitney is honored to partner with FHLB Dallas to help these three incredible community organizations,” said Hancock Whitney Assistant Vice President and Community Development Officer LaCarsha Babers. “We sincerely hope that these funds will aid them in strengthening and reinforcing their communities.”

The following CBOs received funding:

Joseph House, Houston, $16,000
Joseph House is a nonprofit organization that assists elderly and military veterans. The organization also presents a second-chance program to formerly incarcerated individuals and provides counseling.

Beyond Careers, Missouri City, $6,000
Beyond Careers is a nonprofit organization that provides free tax preparation to low- and moderate-income households.

Helbig Community Development Corp., Beaumont, $6,000
Helbig Community Development Corp. is a nonprofit organization committed to helping low-income families have houses of their own.

Through this unique program, FHLB Dallas member institutions contribute $500 to $4,000 to a CBO, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which FHLB Dallas matches at a 3:1 ratio to provide the CBO up to $24,000 per member and $60,000 per year in grant money. PGP grants are awarded annually through FHLB Dallas’ member institutions and help promote and strengthen relationships between CBOs and members.

“Through PGP, Hancock Whitney and FHLB Dallas assist in community involvement and investment,” said Greg Hettrick, first vice president and director of Community Investment at FHLB Dallas. “We are honored to continue distributing this grant alongside Hancock Whitney to help community organizations in need.”
