SAN MATEO, Calif.--()--Jaunt Inc. today announced a collaboration with AT&T to demonstrate the future of 5G immersive experiences on Sunday, Nov. 18. This marks the first commercial launch of Jaunt’s XR Cast, the revolutionary volumetric capture and live-streaming technology announced in late August. Thanks to AT&T and their mobile 5G network leadership and 5G infrastructure provided by Nokia, Jaunt XR Cast will allow fans to capture their own 3D augmented reality holograms, view them in real-time and share on social media.

The demo of XR Cast will be part of the 5G technology demo presented by AT&T and Nokia that will take place at the Falcons pre-game fan event at International Plazas outside of Gate Two at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Nov 18th from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET. XR Cast will be presented via two volumetric capture stages set up in the tailgate area before the Atlanta Falcons vs. Dallas Cowboys game.

During the event, fans will be able to sign up to perform their best end-zone dances on one of two XR Cast capture stages. While tailgaters are dancing, other attendees will be invited to view the dances in augmented reality on a miniature football field through provided tablets. Once they finish their dance, fans can view their own augmented reality holograms on the field and even create “dance parties” with other captures, including Atlanta Falcons cheerleaders. Once fans leave the experience, they will be sent a link to view their hologram on their own mobile device and be able to share it on their favorite social platform.

AT&T is a leader in advancing mobile 5G network technology, enabling enhanced streaming of XR content. Together, Jaunt’s volumetric capture technology will give fans the opportunity to experience the power of 5G by creating their own 3D selfies. Jaunt’s ground-breaking technology uses spatial computing to create a life-like augmented reality image in real-time.

“We’re proud to work with Jaunt and Nokia to bring this immersive experience powered by emerging 5G technologies,” said Kevin Petersen, senior vice president of device and network experiences, AT&T Mobility and Entertainment. “XR Cast is at the forefront of what can be accomplished using 5G technology, and this kind of content is what 5G networks will be able to bring customers.”

“For the first time, portable and affordable real-time volumetric capture is now available for collaborators to create powerful experiences unrivaled by traditional content and video. XR Cast is for companies to connect with their audiences, tell stories, and build brand excitement like never before,” said Mitzi Reaugh, Jaunt CEO. “The future of mobile content will feature volumetric capture AR experiences that completely change the way we connect with one another. XR Cast truly brings that future to life today and will only get better with the rollout of 5G networks.”

How Jaunt’s XR Cast technology works:

  • A portable stage with depth sensing cameras captures a person in 360-degrees and is processed in real time on a single PC
  • The 3D captures are streamed in real-time
  • 3D hologram will be viewed in augmented reality, allowing viewers to see themselves as a miniature figure dancing on whichever surface they’re at, such as a desk or couch
  • The augmented reality holograms can be viewed on personal mobile devices through a web app that allows for viewing in augmented reality
