DURHAM, N.C.--()--Phononic, the global leader in solid-state cooling that is breaking the boundaries of semiconductor innovation, today announced the addition of Dana Krug to its executive team as vice president and general manager of food and beverage. In this role, Dana will be responsible for ideating and executing the company’s food and beverage business strategy, sales and expanding Phononic’s footprint in the food retail market.

“Dana’s legacy sales and management experience, as well as his unique understanding of the retail and technology space are incredible assets for the Phononic food and beverage team,” said Tony Atti, CEO and founder of Phononic. “The food and beverage market is ripe for disruption, as competition becomes increasingly heated. Phononic’s solid-state refrigeration technology offers a huge opportunity to food retail executives today to enable the modern shopping experience and drive customer loyalty. I’m confident Dana is the right lead for Phononic to capitalize on this opportunity, and drive continued success for our food and beverage team.”

Dana brings more than 20 years of executive sales and management experience to Phononic, with a specific focus in technology, retail, CPG and communications. Most recently, Dana was senior vice president of sales at automated retail company Outerwall, where he was responsible for $2.3 billion in revenue for delivering turnkey products and services in entertainment, coffee, gift cards, electronics, telecommunications and financial services via a self-contained kiosk to retailers. Dana led the team that successfully built a network of over 60,000 locations across multiple channels in just eight years, including big box, grocery, drug, dollar stores, convenience store, libraries, universities, restaurants, airports and mass transit. Dana has worked directly with a number of national and region-leading retail clients to drive new innovation and incremental revenue.

“Phononic has an exciting opportunity in the food and beverage space to shape the future shopper experience,” said Dana Krug. “In my more than two decades in the technology and retail space, I’ve gained a deep understanding of the challenges facing retailers today, and see this position as a perfect opportunity to leverage my industry knowledge to grow Phononic’s food and beverage business. I’m thrilled to have the chance to join such an innovative technology organization and expand the company’s reach in the food retail market.”

As the food and beverage space grows increasingly competitive, executives recognize the imperative need to evolve the shopping experience. In fact, according to new research from Phononic, the majority (70 percent) of food retail executives say if grocery stores don’t enter the modern age, more people will look for other ways to get their food. In his new role, leading Phononic’s food and beverage division, Dana will look to capitalize on this opportunity to educate the food retail market about Phononic’s solid-state refrigeration and freezer options, as well as foster sales leads and drive revenue for the company.
