BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--121nexus, a leader in utilizing image recognition technology to provide a new solution to the challenge of master data management (big data), will demo the new EnCompass application, which is now available for iOS in the Apple App Store, at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (June 5-9, 2017) and the FDA’s UDI Conference (June 7-8, 2017).
Using an iPhone® or iPad® camera, the EnCompass App can easily scan any barcode on any medical device to automatically access and reveal all product information. The application can read Unique Device Identification (UDI) barcodes (single or stacked) and deliver device specific information including all information in the FDA's Global Unique Device Identification Database (GUDID).
For the medical device industry, this application achieves a long-anticipated objective: a system that satisfies evolving regulatory requirements for labeling traceability and risk management, while also delivering operational value to manufacturers and easy information access to physicians and patients.

The EnCompass app includes a torch feature for low light scanning situations, can show a history of 20 recently scanned barcodes, and supports the following 1D barcode types: UPC Code, EAN Code, Code 39, Code 128, ITF (Interleaved 2 of 5), Code 93, and these 2D barcode types: QRCode, DataMatrix, PDF417, and AZTEC.
