MADISON, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The launch of the Maxwell® RSC PureFood GMO* and Authentication Kit for food testing delivers automated high quality sample prep for food testing labs. The Maxwell RSC PureFood GMO and Authentication Kit provides an easy, automated method for efficient purification of DNA for use in PCR-based testing for Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) DNA sequences, and PCR-based food and ingredient authentication. The Maxwell RSC PureFood GMO and Authentication kit can purify DNA from raw and processed food samples including corn, soybeans, canola, ground pork, ground beef, pork gelatin, breaded fish, tortillas, corn chips, and rice cakes in under 2 hours.
This new offering builds on the same Promega tools and technologies that food-testing labs have been using for years to prepare their samples for testing. The Maxwell RSC Instrument purifies nucleic acid using novel paramagnetic particles and allows optimal capture, wash and elution of the target material from 1 to 16 samples with minimal manual intervention. Because there are no tubes or pipette tips involved, there are no clogs, drips, splashing or aerosols, greatly reducing any contamination risk. The Maxwell RSC Instrument is supplied with preprogrammed purification methods and is designed for use with the predispensed reagent cartridges, maximizing simplicity and convenience.
* Maxwell RSC GMO stands for “Research Sample Concentrator” and “Genetically Modified Organisms”
