NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Collins, the New York-based brand and design consultancy focused on helping leaders build remarkable consumer experiences, named Amber Guild as its new president today.
In a rapidly changing workplace, it is vital that companies embrace new models of leadership –including new management and creative approaches. Amber is the perfect leader to do that. In addition to helping Collins grow its leading-edge capabilities, she has been an advocate for evolving the culture of work itself: “Too many agencies are building on business and creative models perfectly suited for a world that no longer exists,” she said.
Amber began working with Collins in late 2014 as a consultant helping manage rapid growth, and it quickly became clear she was the best choice to help lead the agency.
“Amber is beyond rare,” said Brian Collins, co-founder of the company that bears his name. “She's a knockout leader. She not only built instantly great relationships with our current clients, but also developed entirely new ones. She'll be working with us to craft a structure to support that growth. As both a digital leader and a great mom, she's helping us create the new kind of company we want – with a culture built for the needs of the 21st century. We are insanely lucky to have her join us.”
Amber’s branding and advertising credentials are notable. Most recently, she spent five years with the digital marketing agency, T3, where she rose to Managing Director of its New York office. Previously she held a variety of strategic account management roles at some of the most highly regarded advertising agencies, including Ogilvy & Mather, Saatchi & Saatchi and TBWA\Chiat\Day.
As one of the few women of color who have reached the highest levels of agency management, Amber represents what the future of agency leadership will look like. Recruiting and mentoring the next generation of talented men and women is a top priority for Collins.
Amber intends to help build a culture where working mothers in particular can develop their own leadership styles and employees understand that the old-school model of endless, grinding weekends spent at the office does not necessarily boost creativity or productivity.
When Amber is asked how she leads, she says, “with empathy,” and you believe her. “I don't want people to have to choose between being great at their lives, and being great at their careers,” she said. “Ideally, they will influence and support one another. One of the ways we can help is to move faster than the speed of our industry. At Collins, I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to make that happen.”
Founded by Brian Collins and Leland Maschmeyer, Collins is the New York-based brand consultancy that believes a remarkable brand experience is the last sustainable competitive advantage companies have.
