BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mustbin today launched its mobile app of the same name for capturing and organizing life’s most vital information and treasured moments. Available now for free in the Apple App Store, the Mustbin app is designed natively for iOS 7 and guides users through capturing and organizing both physical and digital information in secure “bins” that can be shared privately with family, friends or advisors. Bins are stored in the cloud and secured with the highest level of encryption.
Mustbin launches with $4.5 million in Series A venture capital funding led by DAG Ventures, with participation from General Catalyst Partners, Mohr Davidow Ventures, Northgate Capital, Hubspot co-founder Dharmesh Shah, Jonathan Kraft and other leading angel investors. The company was founded by Brian Shin, a successful entrepreneur who previously founded and is CEO of Visible Measures. The founding team includes VP of Engineering Satyender Mahajan, who has extensive experience in mobile and is a co-founder and former CTO of Motus Corporation.
“Most individuals have more and more vital information, often in paper form, spread across numerous physical locations,” said Brian Shin, Mustbin founder and Chairman. “Mustbin was designed around a central idea: How can individuals organize all their information and be prepared for when they need it? We are tremendously excited to deliver a beautiful mobile-first app experience that helps people securely capture all your most important information – both paper and digital. It is as easy to use as the phone’s camera and incredibly powerful and flexible.”
Regarding raising a significant Series A prior to launch Shin commented, “We feel especially honored to have such incredible support from a phenomenal group of investors that I have known for years. Our vision for Mustbin is to help people securely organize and share what matters most to them. This funding gives us the runway to build toward this future.”
How It Works
Based on patent-pending technology, Mustbin is a secure organizer for an individual’s must-have, most vital information, such as paper documents stored in file cabinets at home, in a safe or safety deposit box, at the office, or with a spouse, friend, attorney or financial advisor. The app features a simple, but powerful mobile user experience that makes it easy to capture vital information for important areas of an individual’s life.
Users choose from several pre-built bin types, including Wallet, Accounts and Passwords, Home, Vehicle, Finance and more. Each bin includes Guides that walk users through specific information to capture and add to the bin using the phone’s camera. For example, the Home bin guides users through capturing photos of their home, a deed, home plans, a homeowner’s insurance policy, a lease or mortgage documents, or receipts for major home improvement purchases.
Each bin also includes Actions that help users through scenarios where they can use the information stored in their bins, for example if a wallet is stolen or if someone gets into a car accident. In addition to pre-built Actions, users will be able to create their own scenarios to ensure they are organized and prepared for any situation. Users can share a bin securely through a Mustbin-based private social network with anyone they want, for example a spouse, insurance agent or financial advisor.
All bins are stored in the cloud and synchronized across devices when shared with family, friends, or advisors. Mustbin features robust BincryptionTM technology that provides bin-level encryption, AES-256 encryption on every file and end-to-end encryption during cloud sync.
Mustbin is free to use and is available immediately. To download the Mustbin app go to: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mustbin/id725880116?ls=1&mt=8.
