SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--VeriFone Systems, Inc. (NYSE: PAY), today announced the launch of the SAIL Developer Portal, providing application developers with access to tools and APIs that enable them to integrate with the SAIL mobile payment platform.
Unlike other mobile payments offerings, SAIL is an open platform that enables mobile application developers and technology providers to build their own payment or marketing solutions on top of VeriFone’s secure infrastructure.
Examples of the value that the SAIL open platform provides to merchants are exemplified by the initial integrations already in process, including:
- Small business accounting platforms. Xero of San Francisco and New Zealand, and Outright of Mountain View, Calif., are both using the SAIL APIs to provide direct integration to their accounting solutions, eliminating rekeying and manual entry of information.
- Offers and marketing providers. PushPoint of San Francisco is integrating SAIL technology in its geo-targeted services that provide merchant offers to local mobile device users. “SAIL enhances our mobile marketing tools and enables our clients to easily optimize the relationship between marketing data and purchase data,” said CEO Greg McAllister. “The VeriFone platform is open, flexible, and allows us to fit their payments services into the way we run our business.”
- Inventory management services. Stitch Labs of San Francisco has integrated SAIL with its platform for managing inventory, orders, contacts, shipping, expenses and business analytics in one single SaaS product offering. “SAIL made it really easy to integrate the mobile payment app with our cloud-based platform so independent businesses can manage face-to-face sales alongside ecommerce sales on the popular shopping cart platforms like Etsy, Shopify and BigCommerce that Stitch integrates with,” said Stitch Labs founder and CEO Brandon Levey.
- Front-end POS platforms. OWN POS of San Francisco, POS Lavu of Albuquerque and other complementary front-end application providers are already integrating with SAIL. POS Lavu is using SAIL’s merchant enrollment and payment APIs with its iPad and cloud-hosted POS offering for restaurants and cafes. "Soon we can offer our customers an immediate setup for payment processing with POS Lavu at rates unseen for this type of business,” said Travis Kellerman, senior VP of Operations. “Integration has been seamless.”
The SAIL Developer Portal features a SAIL Instant Commerce Toolkit that enables developer plug-and-play access to the components of the SAIL Open Payment platform, including APIs for real time merchant enrollment, payment processing through the secure SAIL payments engine, as well as inventory and data sync capabilities.
“SAIL is far more than a mobile payments app,” said Brian Hamilton, VeriFone vice president of SMB Commerce. “VeriFone’s open platform APIs provide independent developers and partners the ability to easily integrate underwriting, payments and settlement into their mobile products and services, often within a matter of days or weeks.”
Developers can use the complete toolkit to develop their own iOS and Android mobile payments solutions, without having to rebuild secure gateway or mobile device driver assets. Instead, they embed the SAIL Payments API into their applications and utilize the SAIL platform to handle all card processor and merchant settlement functions.
By utilizing just the SAIL Merchant Enrollment API, organizations such as multi-location non-profits and value-added business service providers can provide members or customers with immediate access to merchant accounts for card processing. Their users can then obtain the free SAIL mobile app and secure SAIL reader to accept card payments and manage their account on SAILpay.com.
With the SAIL Data Sync API, developers can integrate user profiles, transaction history, and catalog management with their existing inventory management functions. For more information, go to www.sailpay.com/developer.
