BLACKSBURG, Va.--()--David Long, president of Vitech Corporation, announced today the availability of the second edition of Vitech Corporation’s ‘A Primer for Model-Based Systems Engineering,’ written by Long and co-author Zane Scott, Vitech’s vice president of professional services. The book, ISBN #978-1-105-58810-5, is one of the model-based systems engineering (MBSE) references Vitech uses in its training courses and in the Vitech University Program. It is targeted to systems engineering practitioners working for government entities, for private and public companies, and for universities, or anyone interested in learning more about the basics of MBSE.

“The importance of knowing and executing the basics of model-based systems engineering is the driving force behind this primer,” says Long. “This second edition (the first edition was available only in electronic form) has been rewritten to bring in new examples and concepts, and we look at detailed descriptions and analyses of ‘a system,’ ‘systems engineering,’ ‘a model,’ and finally, ‘model-based systems engineering,’" adds Long. “We think this building approach makes it easier to put the concepts into a logical framework for understanding and use.”

The primer also covers the basic concepts of model-based systems engineering, including: the Model, Language, Behavior, Process, Architecture, and finally Verification and Validation. The 124-page, softcover book is available on Amazon for $29.95. Interested readers may download a free copy of the first chapter here.
