Wixted & Company Promotes Jake Brus to President

New role signals leadership transition, growth for strategic communications advisory firm

DES MOINES, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Wixted & Company, a nationally recognized strategic communications and crisis management advisory firm, today announced the promotion of Jake Brus to president, effective July 1, 2026. The leadership transition reflects the firm’s continued growth and long-term leadership planning as it positions Wixted & Company for its next chapter.

Founder Eileen Wixted will continue as chief executive officer, focusing on client service, strategic counsel and business development.

Brus joined Wixted & Company as a communication advisor in 2012 and most recently served as vice president and managing director. During his tenure, he has led business development initiatives, strengthened the firm’s strategic planning capabilities and cultivated collaborative partnerships across the industry.

Brus was named to the 2025 Des Moines Business Record 40 under 40 class and serves on the board of the PRSA Iowa Chapter. He is also a member of the Iowa Arts Council, appointed by the Governor, and previously served on the advisory board of the Central Iowa Salvation Army. A native of Denison, Iowa, Brus earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in public communication from American University in Washington, D.C.
