International Nonprofit Announces Launch of Operational Framework for Reducing Pathogen Transmission

MISSOULA, Mont.--()--The Integrated Bioscience and Built Environment Consortium (IBEC), a leading organization dedicated to reducing the transmission of airborne pathogens, announced that it is working with a diverse array of domestic and international partners to develop an Operational Framework for Reducing Indoor Pathogen Transmission. The organization will unveil this groundbreaking framework later this summer, setting new standards for the industry while complementing recent standards development work.

With a focus on reducing airborne pathogen transmission and better equipping marginalized communities with prevention tools, IBEC aims to revolutionize the way we approach indoor health and safety.

As part of this effort, IBEC will host a four-part live-streamed, interactive web series featuring industry experts and innovators discussing the lessons learned and technologies developed during the COVID-19 pandemic response.

These will be an integral part of IBEC’s comprehensive framework that will provide guidelines and strategies that will revolutionize the way we approach indoor health and safety.

"We are excited to launch this initiative and bring together some of the most influential voices in our industry to help learn from our collective experience addressing the pandemic and preparing for the future," said Kenneth F. Martinez, CIH, Chief Science Officer at IBEC. "These projects bring together an important mix of boots-on-the-ground efforts to build a big-picture understanding of what is needed to address airborne pathogen transmission alongside an engaging and interactive web series to help ensure we’re moving the needle on furthering our mission and reducing the transmission of airborne pathogens in the built environment in a way that is tangible to the communities we serve."

Since its inception, IBEC has achieved significant milestones, including the successful launch of the Commit to C.A.R.E public awareness campaign in partnership with the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Additionally, the organization has hosted three full-day C.L.E.A.N. virtual summits that brought together more than 50 thought leaders from various fields to address current challenges and develop innovative solutions for controlling viral transmission in the built environment. These virtual events included over 2,000 participants with 16+ countries represented.
