Pretium Names Guidewheel as Sustainable Supplier of the Year

ST. LOUIS & SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pretium Packaging, a designer and manufacturer of packaging solutions for a diverse set of applications, and Guidewheel, the leading FactoryOps platform, today announced that Guidewheel has been named Pretium’s 2022 Sustainable Supplier of the Year. This award is a new category Pretium has created, with selection criteria that includes Sustainable Innovation, Collaboration, and Leadership.

In June 2022, Pretium brought together over 90 key partners for a supplier summit focused on sustainability and manufacturing efficiencies, and challenged its supplier base to bring innovative and sustainable solutions to the Pretium network. Guidewheel was one of several partners that embraced this challenge and brought meaningful process improvements to the Pretium team.

“We’ve had the privilege of working closely with the Guidewheel team across our entire enterprise to strategically drive business decisions and increase productivity,” said Paul Kayser, CEO at Pretium. “Guidewheel allows us to track energy consumption at every one of our plants and direct production to the most energy-efficient manufacturing lines. With Guidewheel in our corner, we’ve got an ideal foundation for our energy, sustainability and ESG initiatives.”

Because equipment in factories often lasts for decades, a large number of machines in factories worldwide remain unconnected to the cloud even today. Historically, many manufacturers have therefore relied on manual tracking to understand what’s happening on the factory floor. This makes it difficult to identify issues that could impact production and nearly impossible to identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and sustainability.

Guidewheel’s innovation, however, has created a fast, accessible, and elegant solution to bring those assets into the cloud and drive bottom-line impact. Inspired by the simple, universal truth that every machine on the factory floor uses power, Guidewheel clips onto the electrical draw of any machine to turn its real-time “heartbeat” into a connected, active learning software system that empowers teams to reduce lost production time, increase efficiency, and perform better and better over time. It creates a single pane of glass for understanding core performance metrics like uptime, cycle time, and energy usage. This equips manufacturers to drive bottom line results while identifying opportunities for energy savings in their operations.

By tying energy and sustainability into the operating foundation of the business, Guidewheel empowers manufacturers to achieve much greater impact than other solutions previously available.

“We are honored to receive this award from a company who shares our commitment to sustainability and has made it core to how they run their operations,” said Lauren Dunford, CEO at Guidewheel. “We designed Guidewheel to make sustainability improvement core to the FactoryOps workflows manufacturers use to manage their businesses. We are proud to partner with Pretium, of the data-driven and thoughtful approach they are taking to sustainability, and of the role Guidewheel can play in these initiatives.”
