Stem Cell Therapy Global Market Report 2022: Increasing Expansion of Facilities by Market Players Fuels Growth - ResearchAndMarkets.com

DUBLIN--()--The "Stem Cell Therapy Market, by Cell Source, by Application, and by Region - Size, Share, Outlook, and Opportunity Analysis, 2022 - 2030" report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com's offering.

Stem cell therapy is a form of regenerative medicine designed to repair damaged cells within the body by reducing inflammation and modulating the immune system. This phenomenon makes stem cell therapy a viable treatment option for a variety of medical conditions.

Stem cell therapies have been used to treat autoimmune, inflammatory, neurological, orthopedic conditions and traumatic injuries with studies conducted on use for Crohn's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, COPD, Parkinson's, ALS, Stroke recovery and more. There are two main types of stem cell transplants: autologous and allogeneic. An autologous stem cell transplant is most often used to treat plasma cell disorders, hodgkin's lymphoma, myeloma and non-hodgkin's lymphoma. There are four types of Adipose-derived stem cells therapy hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), skin stem cells (SSCs), neural stem cells (NSCs), and mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). There are several types of stem cells that can be used for different purposes.

Some of them are mentioned below as flows:

  • Embryonic stem cells. Embryonic stem cells come from human embryos that are three to five days old.
  • Non-embryonic (adult) stem cells.
  • Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)
  • Cord blood stem cells and amniotic fluid stem cells.

Stem cells have a unique, intrinsic property that attracts them to inflammation in the body. Studies have shown that stem cells can regenerate damaged or diseased tissues, reduce inflammation and modulate the immune system promoting better health and quality of life. Mesenchymal stem cells do this by influencing tissue repair via paracrine effects (cell signaling in order to change the behavior of existing cells) or direct cell-to-cell contact.

Market Dynamics

Increasing expansion of facilities by market players for stem cell therapies is expected to propel growth of the stem cell therapy market over the forecast period.

For instance, in January 2018, the University of Florida, U.S. launched the Center for Regenerative Medicine that is focused on development of stem cell therapies for the treatment of damaged tissue and organ. The Centre for Regenerative Medicines is divided into two segments such as focus groups and shared services. Focus groups such as research and development activities for stem cell therapies and the shared services segment offers technical resources related to stem cell therapies.

Furthermore, rising collaboration activities by key players are expected to drive growth of the global stem cell therapy market. For instance, in May 2018, Procella Therapeutics and Smartwise, a medtech company entered into a collaboration with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals. Under this collaboration, AstraZeneca utilized Procella Therapeutics' stem cell technology for the development of stem cell therapies in cardiovascular diseases. Moreover, in April, 2019, CelluGen Biotech and FamiCord Group, Biotechnology company collaborated to develop new stem cell-based drugs and advanced medical therapies (ATMP).
