Rocket Software Announces JCL Management Solution Now Included in Visual Studio Code (VS Code™) Marketplace

New access to Rocket® PRO/JCL will help mainframe professionals search and install software in seconds

WALTHAM, Mass.--()--Rocket Software, a global technology leader that develops enterprise software for some of the world’s largest companies, today announced its Rocket® PRO/JCL, a job control language (JCL) management solution, is now available through Visual Studio Code (“VS Code™1”) Marketplace, a platform that includes thousands of extensions supporting hundreds of programming languages and tasks. Availability through VS Code Marketplace will allow developers to easily search and install the software in seconds, saving valuable time.

Nearly all growing organizations are modernizing, but businesses still using mainframe technology are experiencing a generational gap in their workforce as seasoned employees retire with their mainframe knowledge. A survey from Rocket Software found that modernizing systems is the most popular way respondents are working to maintain talent pipelines, with 45% of IT professionals citing it as the top method. With Rocket PRO/JCL now available through the popular VS Code Marketplace, developers unfamiliar with mainframe technology can more quickly adapt to their organization’s JCL management process, empowering new employees to create value right away.

“Our JCL management solution can integrate with all critical mainframe software, and now IT developers newer to mainframe technology can easily access it through VS Code Marketplace, which many IT developers are already familiar with,” said Phil Buckellew, President of Infrastructure Modernization, Rocket Software. “With its many interfaces, PRO/JCL remains the strongest choice for any mainframe ecosystem.”

In June, Rocket Software released its latest version of Rocket PRO/JCL that includes a new interface through VS Code extension, Enhanced Directed Execution to include options for sending PROCs and PARMLIBs to remote LPARS, and improved visibility for NODE and LPAR in the primary panel. Rocket Software’s current list of interfaces includes ISPF, Eclipse®2, IBM® Developer for z/OS® (IDz)3, BMC® Compuware® Topaz® Workbench4, VS Code and a RESTful API
