WASHINGTON--()--Gallup, the global analytics and advisory firm, announces today that it has named Jon Clifton its new Chief Executive Officer.

Clifton, who has been with Gallup since 2008, had most recently served as the firm’s Global Managing Partner for five years, advising global leaders on how their organizations and countries can thrive using analytics-based insights.

“Jon Clifton will continue our founder’s mission of reporting the will of the world through our World Poll and global indicators of life and work on earth,” said Reggie Van Lee, Partner and Chief Transformation Officer at Carlyle, and member of Gallup’s board of directors. “Jon has us well on our way to helping one billion people know their CliftonStrengths.”

Clifton serves on the boards of directors for Gallup and Young Professionals in Foreign Policy and has also served on the boards of Meridian International Center, StreetWise Partners, Chess Challenge in DC and the firm Findyr.

He received a bachelor's degree in political science and history from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor in international law from the University of Nebraska. Clifton was also awarded an honorary doctorate in humane letters from Midland University. He is a non-resident senior fellow at Baylor University's Institute for Studies of Religion.

Clifton’s upcoming book, Blind Spot: The Global Rise of Unhappiness and How Leaders Missed It, will be released by Gallup Press in September.

“As the new CEO, Jon's leadership and vision will ensure that Gallup will be the global data leader on the cares and concerns of the everyday person no matter where they are in the world - on top of helping political and business leaders better understand their strengths and weaknesses as they either govern their citizens or engage their workforce,” said Robin Renee Sanders, CEO of FEEEDS and FE3DS and Former U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria and Republic of Congo, and member of Gallup’s board of directors.

Jim Clifton, who had served as the firm’s previous CEO since 1988, will remain as Chairman of the Board.
