Elite Flight Academy Opens at Davidson County Airport

LEXINGTON, N.C.--()--A new pilot training facility is opening at Davidson County Airport. Elite Flight Academy has begun operations at its new location and will host a grand opening and open house to welcome the community and provide information on how to launch a career as a pilot.

The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony with elected officials and members of the business community will take place on Thursday, May 5, at 5:30 p.m. Those interested in learning more about becoming a pilot or taking a tour are also welcome from 5 to 7 p.m., which will include food and drinks, tours of the aircraft, and the opportunity to experience a state-of-the-art flight simulator. The facility is located at 1673 Aviation Way, Lexington, NC.

Elite Flight Academy offers flight instruction in advanced, modern aircraft that meets the FAA requirements for Technically Advanced Aircraft (TAA). It is focused on training future pilots on how to fly different types of aircraft for both vocational and recreational purposes.

“With a strategic location easily accessible to the Triad and Charlotte, the aviation community at Davidson County Airport is booming,” said Roy Morgan, one of Elite Flight Academy’s partners. “We couldn’t be happier to launch our business here, servicing this growing area. And with current pilot hiring trends, there’s no better time to get into aviation.”

Elite Flight Academy offers a range of customized options – from recreational to career pilot training – at a pace that fits each student’s needs. An FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) can provide a personalized training path based on the student’s schedule. In addition, financing options are available.

“The early response to our launch has been overwhelming,” said partner and Operations Manager Corey Johnson. “We’ve experienced a significant level of interest even before our grand opening. Pilots are in-demand, and we’re excited to provide a local path to those who want to make this their career, or who simply want to take to the skies as a personal or business pursuit.”

Elite Flight Academy’s training fleet includes a brand new Piper Pilot 100i with the latest Garmin avionics; a Piper Cherokee 180; a Citabria, which is available for tailwheel endorsement, aerobatics, or spin training; and a new Redbird simulator.

“Flying an airplane is an experience unlike any other, with amazing opportunities to travel to places near and far. If you have always dreamed of becoming a pilot, or you’re thinking about a career change, this is a great time to get started. The skies are calling!” Morgan said.

The FAA requires at least 40 hours of flight training to receive a private pilot certificate, and the national average for completing the training is 60-70 hours over the course of several months. After receiving their initial certificate, pilots can continue training and receive instrument and multi-engine ratings as well as commercial and airline transport pilot licenses.
