SAN FRANCISCO--()--“Cinco de Mayo '' is more than a day. It’s a spirit of freedom, love, promise, family and friends that can’t be contained in one day, so the organizers of the weeklong celebration, Cultura y Arte Nativa de las Americas (CANA) and the San Francisco Lowrider Council invite the Bay Area and the world to join the fun and parties with a purpose, May 1-May 7, 2022!

The highlights of the Cinco de Mayo Celebration Week includes: the Mission Food Hub’s Bike Ride Out beginning and ending at John O’Connell High School; a Celebration of Frida Kahlo to elevate her image from sufferer to conqueror with the Immersive Frida Kahlo Show; and the San Francisco Lowrider Car Showcase and Cruise.

Sunday, May 1 – Mission Food Hub’s Fundraiser Bike Ride Out

Rebel against Climate Change and serve the community. Roberto Y. Hernandez, President of CANA, says “Don’t Buy Gas for a Day!” Ride a bike, roller skate or skateboard. The Mission Food Hub is raising awareness about the environment, health and the increase in food prices due to inflation, cost of gas, housing and other basic needs.

You can make a difference on May Day!

10:00 AM: Meet up for Free Breakfast Burrito at John O'Connell High School at 20th & Harrison Street.

1:00 PM: Ride out to MidPoint at the de Young Museum and receive free refreshments, fruits & passes to visit the museum.

4:00 PM: Enjoy Free dinner at John O'Connell High School, San Francisco.

It’s a great day to Ride Out with family and friends and help raise funds to benefit the Mission Food Hub that has been providing over 9,000 Latino families with culturally appropriate groceries throughout the COVID pandemic.

Thursday, May 5 – Immersive Frida Kahlo Show is a Cinco de Mayo celebration benefit for the Cultural Arts Healing Center- Carnaval San Francisco.

Raising funds and awareness with the Immersive Frida Kahlo Show explores the world through the eyes of the legendary Frida Kahlo - a brilliant, uncompromising painter who created some of history's most iconic artwork. The show consists of mesmerizing, large-scale projections accompanied by a ravishing musical score that will sweep the viewer up to encounter the revolutionary Frida as never before.

Saturday, May 7 – Car Show & Cruise to raise funds for John O'Connell High School, San Francisco.

The weeklong Cinco de Mayo Celebration is capped off with two San Francisco Lowrider Council events.

10 AM - 4:00 PM: Car Show at John O’Connell High School, 20th & Harrison Street.

4:00 PM - 10:00 PM: The excitement continues with the San Francisco Lowrider “Cruise and Dine” on Mission Street between Cesar Chavez and 22nd Streets.

Cinco de Mayo revelers will be able to see the cool cars and enjoy the experience going to the Mission District and eat some yummy Latin American and Mexican spicy cuisine.
