OTTAWA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A coalition of residents, community organizations, and local labour unions will be holding a rally and march this Saturday afternoon to call for accountability from police and all levels of government regarding the three-week occupation of the city.
Residents are marching to send a clear message to the far-right occupiers – and to the police, the mayor, the premier, and the federal government who for weeks enabled them – that residents of Ottawa have the right to real safety, dignity, and respect.
The event will also draw attention to the need for measures that protect our communities, instead of abandoning them, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, including support for workers who lost income due to the convoy, 14 days paid sick leave, fixing health care and long-term care, and more.
The march, organized by Community Solidarity Ottawa, comes on the heels of a well-attended march on February 12 and community meet-up on February 26.
Speakers to be determined.
