Together for Safer Roads Awards Boston-Based Dairy Distributor, Rosev Dairy, Grant From Vision Zero Technology Fund

Rosev Dairy will apply the grant toward fleet safety improvements that will help the City of Boston achieve its Vision Zero goal of eliminating fatal and serious traffic crashes by 2030

BROOKLYN, N.Y.--()--Together for Safer Roads (TSR), a global NGO working to prevent road fatalities, today announced Rosev Dairy Foods, Inc. as the next awardee of TSR’s Vision Zero Technology Fund. TSR created the grant program to support the incorporation of lifesaving technologies into fleet operations. Rosev Dairy will apply the funds underwritten by TSR toward making significant safety improvements to their delivery fleet.

Rosev Dairy supplies milk to Boston Public Schools as well as dairy and food products to healthcare and educational services and local businesses in the Boston metropolitan area. The family-run business will use the $20,000 grant to equip its fleet of refrigerated delivery trucks with cross-over mirrors and side guards. Both improvements are low cost, common sense retrofits that can be added to nearly any commercial truck. These proven safety features improve a drivers' field of vision and prevent other road users, especially people walking and biking, from injury or even death by large vehicles.

“Our drivers navigate dense urban areas every day, and implementing these solutions will allow us to maintain our ability to safely serve our community,” said Steve Jamgochian, vice president and CFO of Rosev Dairy. “We appreciate this recognition from TSR, and are honored to be selected for the Vision Zero Technology Fund.”

Rosev Dairy was recommended to TSR for the Vision Zero Technology Fund by the City of Boston Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics. Under Vision Zero Boston, the city is committed to eliminating fatal and serious traffic crashes in the city by 2030.

“We know that safer trucks means safer streets. We also know that the City of Boston needs strong partnerships with local companies to deliver on that vision,” said Kris Carter, co-chair of the Boston Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics. “This collaboration between Rosev Dairy and TSR continues to move us forward on the City’s Vision Zero goals of eliminating serious injuries and fatalities on our streets.”

The presenting sponsors of the Vision Zero Technology Fund are CalAmp and UPS, longtime members and supporters of TSR. The inaugural grant recipient was City Harvest, New York City’s largest food rescue organization. After installing new vehicle safety technology last year, City Harvest was able to deliver to 1.5 million food-insecure New Yorkers, a 43% increase over pre-COVID-19 times.

“Vehicle crashes are the leading cause of work-related deaths in the United States," said TSR president, David Braunstein. “With our Vision Zero Technology Fund, Together for Safer Roads is working to empower companies to protect their employees on the road. Organizations that help to further road safety efforts are in turn creating measures within their own organizations that will improve the welfare of both employees and the public at-large.”

The Vision Zero Technology Fund is open for application to all purpose-based and essential services businesses, non-profit organizations and government agencies. Those interested can apply and find more information at: www.togetherforsaferroads.org/vision-zero-tech-fund/.
