SAN FRANCISCO--()--Woebot Health today announced it has appointed Kim Goodwin as vice president of user experience (UX). One of the world’s leading UX experts, Kim is responsible for directing a team of designers, clinicians and content developers to keep user needs at the heart of product strategy, translate the most effective therapeutic methods into a digital context, and deliver mental health solutions that fit naturally into people’s lives. She reports to Founder and President Alison Darcy.

Kim’s background spans 25 years in design, development, management, teaching and research across a range of industries. Her healthcare experience features work for online pharmacy services, diagnostic and treatment devices, consumer health education and tracking and desktop and tablet-based electronic medical records companies. A highly sought-after speaker for her perspectives on design techniques and leadership, Kim is also the author of dozens of articles and the bestselling book Designing for the Digital Age, which is heralded as the most comprehensive how-to guide in the field.

“Woebot has a magical way of interacting with people that represents a higher standard of user experience,” said Darcy. “With Kim’s leadership, we’ll continue to build the future of relational agents and pioneer new ways for people to engage with technologies that actually improve lives, one conversation at a time.”

A long-time consultant to start-up clients and Fortune 500s alike, including Medtronic, Boeing and Best Buy, Kim has also held senior level positions at the patient network PatientsLikeMe and at the pioneering strategy and design firm Cooper. At Cooper, Kim helped to originate widely used design methods, such as personas, and worked with clients including Lexus, Cardinal Health, Abbott and Cisco to build and improve their internal design, research and product strategy capabilities. Kim also started Cooper's professional education business and designed a core curriculum that has since influenced more than 80,000 design and product professionals.

“One of the foundational aspects of delivering a great experience is human-centered values, and one of the reasons I’m joining Woebot Health is because these values are incredibly strong at the company,” Goodwin said. “We have the potential to expand evidence-based mental health care to so many people who need it. I’m excited to work with a team that's deeply committed to doing the right thing for everyone who touches the products, and to build on the great foundation they have set.”

Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley and is an avid traveler and wildlife photographer who has been to all seven continents.
