DENVER--()--Peak Gastroenterology Associates (“Peak”), the largest provider of gastroenterology and related ancillary diagnostic and therapeutic services in Colorado and a subsidiary of Gastro Care Partners (“GCP”), announced today that Dr. Douglas Adler will join the practice in April 2021. Dr. Adler, who brings more than 20 years of experience, is a nationally and internationally recognized expert and key thought leader in endoscopy.

Dr. Adler has personally trained over 50 doctors in advanced endoscopic procedures and performed more than 30,000 procedures. He has written over 450 scientific papers and book chapters, spoken at more than 400 lectures and scientific presentations, and authored eight gastroenterology textbooks. He is also a senior associate editor of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the flagship endoscopy journal in the world.

Dr. Adler will join fellow interventional endoscopists, Dr. Ali Siddiqui and Dr. Scot Lewey, who recently joined Peak and have impressive skill sets and reputations. Together, the three of them will launch the Center for Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy (“CATE”), in partnership with Porter Adventist Hospital. CATE will change the level of care in our entire region and become a hub of innovation and research. It is our expectation that people will come from all over the country to receive the highest level of care from these physicians at CATE.

Dr. Adler commented, “I am thrilled to join Dr. Siddiqui, Dr. Lewey, and the entire Peak team, as well as the broader GCP platform. Through our partnership with Porter Adventist Hospital, CATE will enable us to serve a wider group of patients and continue innovating better devices and newer techniques. Peak shares my philosophy that high quality outcomes and an outstanding patient experience are paramount. The GCP team not only shares these values, but also brings significant resources to help accelerate growth plans. I am incredibly impressed by the talent and experience that GCP brings to the table to support their physicians.”

Dr. Buck Patel, Chief Research Officer of GCP and founder of Peak, commented, “Our partnership with GCP to-date has been a tremendous success. The addition of Dr. Adler and the creation of the Center for Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy will help us expand our platform and enhance our best-in-class GI services throughout Colorado.”

“We are excited to add Dr. Adler to our team and help launch CATE,” said Mr. Rinkov, CEO of GCP. “Dr. Adler has a world-class reputation and is a game changer for our patients, partner hospitals and the entire region. Dr. Adler, Dr. Siddiqui, and Dr. Lewey are at the forefront of their fields and we are excited to support our community and region with highly complex medical expertise. We are also excited about the innovation which will advance patient care and experience.”

Dr. Ali Siddiqui, a world-renowned endoscopist and researcher and joined Peak in October 2020, is currently the co-director of interventional endoscopy at the Center for Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver. Previously, he was Professor of Gastroenterology and Director of Interventional Endoscopy at Jefferson University in Philadelphia and Professor of Gastroenterology at Loma Linda University in California. Dr. Siddiqui's clinical skills focus on interventional endoscopy and the use of new devices to diagnose and treat biliary and pancreatic diseases, a safer and less invasive alternative to surgery. Using both Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Endoscopic Ultrasonography (EUS) enables him to successfully treat complex pathology and have a major positive impact on patient management. He has pioneered many of these procedures, has over 15 years of experience in performing therapeutic endoscopy, and has given lectures and training all over the world to dissipate this skill.

Dr. Scot Lewey has been established in Colorado for 25 years and has a proven track record of navigating the complexities of healthcare to maximize the benefit for patients. Dr. Lewey graduated from Kansas City University before completing a combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. He held several leadership positions at military hospitals and deployed during Operation Desert Storm with the 1st Infantry Division, where he served as company commander of the main support battalion medical unit and was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Medic Badge. He completed his fellowship at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. Dr. Lewey is currently a Clinical Professor at Kansas City University and Rocky Vista University. He has conducted clinical research and authored several book chapters and peer reviewed articles. He is a Fellow of all three major gastroenterology societies. His passion lies in therapeutic and advanced endoscopy.

Gastro Care Partners is the parent company of Peak, which completed a growth equity partnership with Varsity Healthcare Partners (“VHP”) in December 2019. VHP is a middle market private equity investment firm focused on building leading healthcare services companies.
