ORLANDO, Florida--(BUSINESS WIRE)--If a hurricane or other natural disaster damages your roof, the expectation is that your insurance company will pay all of the costs associated with repairing or replacing that roof. Not so fast, according to Senate Bill 76. This bill, backed by the Florida insurance industry, will present homeowners with roofs that are 10 years old or more with significant hurdles, and in many cases out-of-pocket expenses of thousands of dollars. My Claims Care seeks to fight the passage of this bill.
“Raise the Roof Against Senate Bill 76” Round Table
My Claims Care, a company which specializes in administering insurance claims for homeowners and roofing companies, is sponsoring an event Tuesday, February 23 at 1:30pm for media at the law offices of Taitt Law Group in downtown Orlando. This round table will feature lawyers from the Taitt Law Group and a variety of roofing contractors. We’ll explain how homeowners will be disenfranchised by this bill and discuss our strategy for fighting it.
Bill written by insurance companies for insurance companies
The only beneficiary of this bill is insurance companies. Look at the record of the Senator that is sponsoring it; the owner of an insurance brokerage firm, Jim Boyd, has been in the business since 1985 and has sat on various insurance company advisory boards.
Senate Bill 76 Will Make it Harder for Homeowners to Sue Over Denied Claims
This bill seeks to reduce the fees incurred by attorneys, even in the event of a successful suit which is 80% or less of the claim amount.
The passage of Senate Bill 76 would be a multimillion dollar gift to insurance companies at the expense of homeowners. We intend to fight it on behalf of all homeowners.
