Thought Leadership & Innovation Foundation Names Reed Hartley, Executive Director: Leader of Domestic & Global Non-Profit Organizations Accelerates Project and Revenue Growth

MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Thought Leadership & Innovation Foundation (TLI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Reed Hartley as executive director, succeeding Shawn Murphy, who has been promoted to vice president and will join the TLI Board of Directors. Recognized for successfully leading and growing domestic and international not-for-profit organizations, Hartley will play a pivotal role in initiating new opportunities that establish value for TLI corporate partners, foundations and major donors. With his expert guidance for strategic planning, effective communications and robust financial performance, TLI will continue its successes in driving better health, education and economic empowerment in communities worldwide, with projects that span research and measurement, analytics, technology, community collaboratives and an Innovation Hub.

Welcoming Hartley to this leadership position, Bill Oldham, founder and chairman of the Board, TLI, says, “Reed brings an impressive track record for leading organizations and staff across all functions, including communications, major gift fundraising, research, programs and finance. We are confident that he will help TLI to amplify its role as a force multiplier for public and private sector initiatives and further apply its resources and capabilities to transform ‘thinking and discussion’ to actually ‘doing.’ Hartley shares our dedication to tackling seemingly intractable health problems, economic struggles and social issues with a goal to bring about meaningful change. Together with the expanded TLI Board of Directors, we expect to further build a global footprint, enhance our reputation for reliable, trustworthy and authentic results and increase the organization’s client and donor bases.”

Prior to joining TLI, Hartley served as executive director, Mid-Atlantic-ALSAC, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where he grew the corporate and individual donor base and efficiently implemented programs for research and treatment of childhood cancer.

He has also served as executive director, Free Wheelchair Mission, where he led all fundraising and operations to provide wheelchairs to individuals in need through programs involving multiple partners in 50 developing countries.

His remarkable career also includes leadership positions as vice president, Development for Western US, Opportunity International, where he led efforts to champion and provide economic opportunities and mitigate poverty for disenfranchised populations in Africa, Asia and South America.

Hartley states, “I have deep respect for this organization and its commitment to fostering a culture of collaboration and innovative thinking in communities worldwide. As we move forward on key priorities for near and long-term success, I look forward to extending and supporting TLI programs that develop, nurture and implement innovative strategies that positively impact individual, community and population health, healthcare, resilience and well-being.”
