Ob Hospitalist Group Welcomes Former CEO of UnitedHealthcare as Newest Board Member

Yasmine Winkler Brings 35 Years of Industry Expertise and Leadership to Board of Directors

GREENVILLE, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ob Hospitalist Group (OBHG), the nation’s largest and only dedicated provider of customized OB/GYN hospitalist programs, announced the addition of industry expert Yasmine Winkler to its board of directors. Winkler is one of eight board members, joining OBHG’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), OBHG’s former CEO and founder, private equity investors, and strategic advisors with deep experience in the hospitalist and women’s health space.

Winkler brings more than thirty-five years of healthcare experience, including serving as CEO of UnitedHealthcare Community and State’s Central Region and the Executive Lead, Diversity and Inclusion for UnitedHealthcare, where she oversaw approximately 30 percent of Community & State’s total business. UnitedHealthcare Community & State serves over 6.7 million Medicaid members in 30 states, plus Washington D.C.

“I am thrilled at the opportunity this role presents and will be leveraging my experience in the Medicaid space to benefit the thousands of patients and families that OBHG serves,” Winkler said. “The mission of OBHG strongly resonates with me, as I have seen challenges women face when they lack access to high quality OB care. Infant mortality and maternal health continue to be major challenges for communities across the country, and I am looking forward to working with a company that is on the frontlines of making a difference in addressing those issues every day.”

OBHG board members provide strategic guidance to OBHG management and leadership, including prioritizing and approving investments, developing long-term strategic plans, identifying new business and growth opportunities, and approving annual operating plans. Winkler’s experience will be particularly impactful in the changing payer landscape, addressing social determinants of health in the labor & delivery room, and increasing focus on delivering value-based care in obstetrics.

“OBHG continually seeks to establish relationships across payer systems to support efforts to drive better value, particularly as it relates to access to care and quality for the Medicaid population,” said Lenny Castiglione, CEO of OBHG. “Yasmine’s extensive payer experience will bring a unique point of view to our board, allowing us to build our insights into solutions in women’s health that ultimately benefit the healthcare continuum.”

OBHG serves an overwhelming percentage of minority and Medicaid patients. Winkler’s experience within Medicaid and her perspective as a Latina leader will allow OBHG to continue to innovate in care delivery for these populations. Furthermore, Yasmine’s breadth of experience in innovative care delivery models, including telehealth, will provide invaluable guidance as OBHG explores opportunities to expand outside the walls of the hospital.

In addition to her responsibilities as a board member for OBHG, Winkler is a founding member of Angeles Investors, an organization dedicated to finding, funding, and growing the most promising Hispanic and Latinx ventures. She is also a director of the Association of Latino Professionals For America, the country’s leading professional Latino non-profit organization. Winkler received her Master’s in Healthcare Delivery Science from Dartmouth College.
