BEIJING--()--The Women Connect ‘Her Power’ Entrepreneurship Competition, organized by DHgate, was established to recognize and honor outstanding female entrepreneurs from around the world. With female entrepreneurs participating from more than 10 countries, 468 stories were presented during the application process. Attracting millions of votes and exposure worldwide, the competition selected 10 finalists representing different cultures and experiences to be shortlisted for the three top slots. Anna Davidson, a digital marketer from the UK; Marianne R. Vega, a young secondhand automobile saleswoman from Mexico; and Dominique Queenie, a cross-border e-commerce expert from the United States, were named the champion, 1st runner-up, and 2nd runner-up, respectively. The winners, chosen by public voting and a panel of judges, will be awarded cash prizes and e-commerce bonuses.

The winning entrepreneurs have diverse social and cultural backgrounds, yet all three have overcome challenges and seized the best of business opportunities in the field of digitalization. Determined to enhance their lives and achieve success, the three entrepreneurs have actively utilized digital tools for their businesses and shared their own stories to encourage more women to challenge gender inequality and stereotypes and thus realize self-worth.

Anna Davidson, Conveyed the Importance of Courage

A victim of sexual and physical abuse, including strangulation, Anna was determined to proceed beyond her marriage nightmare and embark on a new journey with her two little children. Self-taught digital marketing skills helped Anna grow her eco-friendly product’s brand. She also works to empower other female entrepreneurs to seize their business dreams, benefiting others in her community to reach beyond their expectations.

Marianne Rincón Vega, Refused to be Labeled by Gender

With a disability in her right arm, Marianne had to give up her dream of becoming a military doctor. But because of her passion for machinery, she chose to break into the secondhand automobile industry, a business traditionally dominated by men. Consistently challenged because of her young age and gender, Marianne has created a highly professional service and offers customers cars at reasonable prices. She lets the world know through her actions that women, even young ones, have unlimited possibilities. It is never is too early for a young woman to begin chasing her dreams.

Dominique Queenie, Imbued the World of Technology with Girly Elements

Having endured the painful loss of a daughter and a failed marriage, Dominique refused to be beaten down by the sometimes cruel turns of fate. Instead, with strong determination and as a passionate advocate of the “girly” style, she restarted her life by establishing a cross-border e-commerce platform selling girly, or customized, tech accessories. Bringing a sweet feminine touch to the world of technology, Dominique proves that one’s strength can never be diminished by the judgment of others. She has proven that women can achieve great success in the technology industry, even with a feminine touch.

“Congratulations to all the winners,” said Diane Wang, founder and chairperson of DHgate. “I was very pleased and impressed to hear so many great stories. Despite the undesirable challenges the world is facing, females’ entrepreneurial spirit will never give up. Women represent a new generation of innovation and disruptive thinking. Let’s cheer for all the diligent women for their courageous and amazing stories. Always keep in mind: Many hands make light work. When women work together, an unbreakable bond is initiated.’’
