CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Food insecurity is on the rise amid the Covid-19 pandemic, and Devon + Lang, an apparel company, is eager to help. Today, Devon + Lang donated $10,000 to The Leftovers Foundation, a food rescue organization connecting service agencies with excess food to distribute to those in need.
Known for their innovative boxer briefs, Devon + Lang pivoted to offer face masks during the pandemic, and since October, has allocated 15% of all proceeds to The Leftovers Foundation fundraising initiative. Following a $15,000 donation to the United Way community relief fund in October, this contribution brings the company’s 2020 total donation to local vulnerable populations to $25,000.
“At the beginning of the pandemic, we recognized the need for well-designed reusable face masks in our community, and we were ecstatic about the support we received from our fellow Canadians,” said Tyler McCombs, Founder and CEO of Devon + Lang. “We were thrilled to partner with Leftovers to support the populations most affected by the pandemic. Thank you to everyone who decided to shop local and support a great cause.”
“The Leftovers team is so grateful for this support,” said Lourdes Juan, Founder and Executive Director of the Leftovers Foundation. “Our team has rescued over 550,000 lbs of food in 2020, ensuring it gets to service agencies and those in need. This would not be possible without the partners that have stood by our side during the pandemic. Thank you, Devon + Lang!”
The Devon + Lang team will continue to donate a portion of all profits of mask sales to local charities and initiatives.
