Envision Healthcare Announces Additions and Changes to Leadership Team

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--()--Envision Healthcare, one of the country’s leading medical groups, announced today new additions and transitions within its leadership team.

As a leading national medical group, we are proud to build a team of talented, innovative individuals who make our business better,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Rechtin. “Our senior leaders are focused on building a strong and nimble organization that can take advantage of the opportunities presented in the current healthcare environment. Their hard work will empower our clinicians to carry out their mission: delivering care when and where it’s needed most.”

Wes Booysen is stepping down from his role as Chief Financial Officer and leaving the company at the end of January 2021 due to personal reasons. Booysen brought professionalism and expertise to his role at Envision and navigated an unpredictable environment throughout 2020. Henry Howe will take on the new role of interim CFO and will also assume the full-time role of Executive Vice President of Enterprise Strategy and Financial Planning. In addition to being instrumental in the budgeting and resource planning process, Howe has been intimately involved in helping the company successfully navigate the ongoing pandemic. He will continue working closely with the CEO and the Board in creating a multi-year plan to achieve the company’s strategic goals.

Kenneth Zongor is stepping down from his role as Chief Accounting Officer. Zongor will stay on through mid-April 2021 to ensure a smooth transition to Sean Tussey, CPA, who will join Envision as CAO on December 14, 2020. Tussey joins Envision from Steward Health Care, where he served as Senior Vice President/Chief Accounting Officer and oversaw financial operations with a combined revenue of more than $7 billion. Tussey also served in senior accounting positions at PhyNet Dermatology, IASIS Healthcare and Massey Energy Company.

Beth Sweetman is joining Envision as its Chief People and Culture Officer. Sweetman will be an active member of the executive team, designing and executing strategies to strengthen Envision’s talent recruitment and development. She brings deep and varied experience in human resources (HR) at the highest levels of complex organizations. Previously, Sweetman served as the top HR executive at Hallmark, DST Systems and Furniture Brands International. Sweetman, who is coming out of retirement temporarily, will be a key member of the executive team into 2022. She takes over as Envision’s top human resources executive, succeeding Chief Administrative Officer Dave Esler, who will transition into an advisory role at the end of the year.

Meg Lafave will take on the new role of Senior Vice President of People and Government Affairs, reporting directly to Sweetman. Since joining Envision earlier this year, Lafave has had an immediate and pronounced impact in advancing the medical group’s efforts to empower clinicians and improve access to and delivery of care for all patients. Previously, Lafave served as Director of Human Capital at DSST Public Schools and Chief of Staff to the CEO at DaVita.

April Zepeda will join as Senior Vice President of Communication for Envision’s medical group. Zepeda comes to Envision from Optum, where she served as Vice President of Communication. She also previously served as Vice President of Corporate Communication for DaVita Medical Group and Vice President/Associate Administrator of Communication and Government Affairs for The Everett Clinic.

I’m excited to welcome these talented professionals to their new roles,” Rechtin added. “Finally, I thank Wes, Kenneth and Dave for their contributions to Envision and wish them the best.”
